The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) is a gratified recipient of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Tax Compliance Award 2016. TASO was awarded at the URA celebrations to mark its 25 years on 1st October 2016 at their Headquarters in Nakawa. TASO received a Vantage Award (Non Individual) for Tax Compliance, which was presented to the TASO team by the State Minister of Finance for Planning, Hon. David Bahati. The Guest of Honor at the event whose theme was “25 years of building Uganda” was the Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who represented H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

TASO was recognized among the elite institutions and companies with outstanding performance in tax compliance over the period and these included among others; Nile Breweries, Century Bottling Company, Tororo Cement and Japan International Corporation. The TASO team that received the award was led by the Executive Director, Dr. Bernard Michael Etukoit and included the Finance Director Gordon Karukoma and Payroll Accountant Allen Okiror.

The ED Dr. Etukoit said after receiving the award that this recognition serves as a motivation for TASO to do even more to foster the culture of great service to Uganda. He said TASO’s merit for recognition is built on a revered value system, work ethic and prudent operational and financial systems that make us responsive and accountable to all our stakeholders. These underpin TASO as a highly compliant organisation to national and international protocols and responsive to the needs of the community. It is this entrenched culture that has kept TASO ahead of the pack in the HIV and AIDS Response in Uganda.

TASO is proud to be part of the URA’s history of building Uganda over the last 25 years. We promise to do even more to improve the quality of life of persons, families and communities in Uganda as we work towards a World without HIV and AIDS.
