The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) is a gratified recipient of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Tax Compliance Award 2016. TASO was awarded at the URA celebrations to mark its 25 years on 1st October 2016 at their Headquarters in Nakawa. TASO received a Vantage Award (Non Individual) for Tax Compliance, which was presented to the TASO team by the State Minister of Finance for Planning, Hon. David Bahati. The Guest of Honor at the event whose theme was “25 years of building Uganda” was the Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who represented H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

TASO was recognized among the elite institutions and companies with outstanding performance in tax compliance over the period and these included among others; Nile Breweries, Century Bottling Company, Tororo Cement and Japan International Corporation. The TASO team that received the award was led by the Executive Director, Dr. Bernard Michael Etukoit and included the Finance Director Gordon Karukoma and Payroll Accountant Allen Okiror.

 The ED Dr. Etukoit said after receiving the award that this recognition serves as a motivation for TASO to do even more to foster the culture of great service to Uganda. He said TASO’s merit for recognition is built on a revered value system, work ethic and prudent operational and financial systems that make us responsive and accountable to all our stakeholders. These underpin TASO as a highly compliant organisation to national and international protocols and responsive to the needs of the community. It is this entrenched culture that has kept TASO ahead of the pack in the HIV and AIDS Response in Uganda.

TASO is proud to be part of the URA’s history of building Uganda over the last 25 years. We promise to do even more to improve the quality of life of persons, families and communities in Uganda as we work towards a World without HIV and AIDS.

Thousands attend Lutaaya Day as TASO brands the event.

Thousands of locals from the new District of Alebtong endured the scorching heat on Monday 17th October 2016 to attend the National Philly Lutaaya Day Commemorations held at Alebtong Primary School. Lutaaya Day is commemorated annually under the auspices of Uganda AIDS Commission and is a key advocacy event for continued sensitization and education of the communities on HIV and AIDS. This year’s event was organized under the theme, “Uganda ame pe itwo jonyo, obedi tica”, translated in English as, An AIDS free Uganda, My responsibility.

Church Minister Warns Clients against False Religious Teaching; Fronts Treatment Adherence.

Deliverance Church Minister in Soroti, Pastor Job Eliru, has warned People Living with HIV against false religious teaching on healing and instead urged them to adhere to their treatment to stay in good health. Pastor Eliru gave this counsel while presiding as Guest of Honor at TASO Soroti Centre General Meeting (CGM) on Friday 12th August 2016.

TASO Priotitises Key Population Programming

TASO is prioritizing key population and geographical programming in its HIV response as the best bet for accelerating access and equity to achieve the global targets to end HIV epidemic. This was revealed by TASO Executive Director, Dr. BM Etukoit while speaking to visiting Journalism Students and Faculty of Indiana University, Bloomington, at ACME premises in Bunga, Kampala on Monday 23rd May 2016. The African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME) are hosting the summer course on reporting HIV/AIDS in Africa and they invited TASO to make a presentation.

TASO on Course to Achieve Global Targets

The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) is on the right course in its contribution to the global targets to end AIDS epidemic. This information was revealed during the ongoing TASO Program Review Meeting at Nile Hotel in Jinja from 11th to 15th April 2016. Delivering his presentation on day 2 of the meeting on “90-90-90” strategy: Implications on TASO programming”, Dr. Baker Bakashaba, Manager Medical Services said TASO is well paced to achieve the global targets set by the UN Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) to end AIDS epidemic. He said TASO is already surpassing the targets in two (2) out of three (3) stipulated areas and is positioning itself to do as well in the other target area.
